Technical Metadata Librarian
We are currently engaged with a client who is seeking a Technical Metadata Librarian on a Full time direct employee basis. In this role, the Technical Metadata Librarian will:
Serves a client's metadata expert, responsible for data model creation and maintenance and international standards compliance
Propose business models for emerging metadata standards and fields across the organization where appropriate
Track and surface changing and emerging bibliographic metadata standards and best practices both within the Data Systems team
Perform analysis, specification, testing, and maintenance of applications and processes involving client's bibliographic and rights databases
Serve as liaison between Data Systems & Services, Engineering Application Development and other client's business units to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.
The appropriate individual will have demonstrated experience in the following:
Working in a publishing or library environment Demonstrable knowledge of metadata standards including DC, MODS, METS, MARC, ONIX, MARCXML, PBCORE
Demonstrable knowledge of protocols and data models including OAI-PMH, OAI-ORE, ResourceSync, Europeana Data Model (EDM), Linked Open Data, RDF An in-depth understanding of current issues and trends in the domain of bibliographic data management and manipulation.
Practical experience managing all aspects of metadata creation for a digital repository, including selection and implementation of metadata standards, quality control, and crosswalking/mapping data sets
Experience working with bibliographic and content feeds preferred
Experience with Agile project methodologies preferred
Familiarity with one or more scripting language preferred
