Job
Summary:
As a Prepress Technician, you will be responsible for preparing digital files for printing, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to printing specifications.
You will work closely with account managers, planning and press operators to ensure that final printed materials meet the desired standards.
Key
Responsibilities:
File Preparation:
Receive digital files from clients or designers and prepare them for printing, including checking for errors, adjusting color, and formatting according to printing specifications.
Quality Control:
Perform thorough quality checks on prepared files to ensure accuracy, resolution, and proper color management.
Identify and rectify any issues that may affect the final printed product.
Software Expertise:
Proficiently use prepress software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Acrobat, GMG, Preps and other specialized prepress tools to manipulate and optimize digital files for printing.
Color Management:
Ensure consistent color reproduction across different printing processes by calibrating equipment, creating color profiles, and making necessary adjustments to digital files.
Communication:
Collaborate closely with account managers, planning and press operators to understand project requirements, address concerns, and provide technical guidance throughout the prepress process.
Troubleshooting:
Troubleshoot technical issues related to file compatibility, resolution, font embedding, and other prepress challenges.
Provide timely solutions to minimize production delays.
Print Production Support:
Assist printing press operators with plate-making, proofing, and other prepress tasks as needed to facilitate smooth production workflows.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of prepress activities, including file revisions, color specifications, and client approvals.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in prepress software and tools, including Adobe Creative Suite and Acrobat.
Understanding of color theory, color management, and printing processes.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Prior experience in printing is preferred.
