Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) work under the supervision of Physical Therapists to provide physical therapy interventions and treatments to patients.
They play an important role in helping patients recover from injury, manage chronic conditions, and improve mobility and function.
Some specific tasks of a PTA include:
1.
Assisting Physical Therapists in the examination and evaluation of patients 2.
Implementing physical therapy interventions and treatments, such as exercises, stretches, and manual therapy techniques 3.
Monitoring patients' progress and making adjustments to treatment plans as needed 4.
Communicating with Physical Therapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care 5.
Documenting patient care and progress in medical records 6.
Educating patients and their families about physical therapy interventions and home exercise programs 7.
Maintaining therapy equipment and supplies Education and certification requirements for PTAs vary by state, but most positions require an Associate's degree in Physical Therapist Assistant and certification from the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE).
Some states also require a state license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Physical Therapist Assistants must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
